Tuesday, 11 March 2014 - Speeches Schedule for Thursday and Friday

This morning we reviewed self- and peer-editing expectations.  Students also classified sentences and worked on punctuation and capitalization rules.

During reading, students worked on their book reports.  THE FIRST TYPED COPY OF THE BOOK REPORT #2 IS DUE MONDAY.

READ 30 MINUTES TONIGHT.

MATH HOMEWORK IS PAGES 117 AND 118 AND 1/2 OF THE GRAPH.

This afternoon we had lots of time to finish typing, printing, and practicing speeches.  EVERY STUDENT SHOULD BE FINISHED WRITING THEIR SPEECH.  THEY WERE DUE YESTERDAY.  TONIGHT STUDENTS CAN CREATE THEIR TITLE PAGES.  IF THEY WANT IT IN COLOR, THEY SHOULD PRINT IT OUT AT HOME.  ALSO, READ OVER THE SPEECH MANY TIMES TO GET IT AS FLUENT AS POSSIBLE.  Students may use 3 x 5 cards notes as prompts.

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING THEIR SPEECH, 3 X 5 PROMPT CARDS, A COSTUME AND A SMALL BITE OF FOOD FROM THEIR COUNTRY TO SHARE WITH THEIR PEERS ON THE DAY THEY ARE SCHEDULED.

In addition to the above, we also learned about the Chinese Lotus Flower feet.  Students were stunned that something so painful could be coveted.  It was a good springboard for discussion.
