REMEMBER, FALL BREAK MEANS NO SCHOOL THURSDAY, FRIDAY, AND MONDAY.
This morning we wrote in our journals. I am impressed with the entries. They are getting longer and more detailed. We learned that there are 49 prepositions and made superhero backgrounds for our superheros to practice prepositioning! My reading class reported on their books and planned a presentation for the class next week. Much of the planning has to be done in school, so the kids will be ready to present right after Fall Break. HOMEWORK IS GETTING PREPARED FOR THE PRESENTATION. Students should reference the text as much as possible. HOMEWORK IS READING FOR 30 MINUTES. YOUR STUDENT CAN LOG ON TO RAZ-KIDS.COM TO PRACTICE READING. THERE IS A LOT OF PROGRESS TO BE MADE BY ALL.
In math we reviewed Cum Test #1. The average was about 16/20. This is just the first of many such tests this year. There is a green correction paper stapled to the test. If students have parents sign the test, they can raise their test grade 1 point. If students rework corrections on the green sheet, they can earn 1/2 of the points they missed (if they work the answers correctly). HOMEWORK IS EXERCISES 1 & 2 IN UNIT TWO. We will be learning tricks for addition and subtraction in the next few days.
This afternoon students completed an open-book Mountains test. They were allowed to work together to review the concepts we have learned. We then jotted down all the things we know about Native Americans to prepare for our new Social Studies unit.
We were busy with drama, music, P.E., and science. Please ask your students about these subjects. I know science generally has a lot of homework, but they have different teachers for each of these classes.
