This morning we worked on cursive "Q". We reviewed the job of the Subject Pronoun and classified sentences as a class. Next, we raced with spelling sorts to prepare for tomorrow's test. We created two essay templates on the board and students added appropriate information to build an essay. Some students handed in the optional Drug Free essay today.
We read in Reader's Theater form and buddy reading from the 3rd chapter of Summer of the Monkeys. HOMEWORK IS TO COMPLETE IT! IF YOUR CHILD HAS COMPLETED THE READING, PLEASE HAVE HIM OR HER READ INDEPENDENTLY FOR 30 MINUTES OR GO ONTO THEIR RAZ-KIDS ACCOUNT.
MATH HOMEWORK IS EXERCISE 10. We learned to multiply by 10, 25, and 50 in our heads. This was serious math. Example: 48 x 25 = 48 x 100 divided by 4. The kids really liked doing these. Tomorrow they will learn 48 x 25 = 12 x 4 x 25. This is tricky math, but they are getting it! THERE WILL BE A CUMULATIVE TEST BY WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK.
Dance was awesome to watch today. Your children are creating their own rendition of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and are all on task so well.
Fourth Graders brainstormed Native American Legends. They are writing their own to publish. Please help your child brainstorm ideas, or ask them to relate the story to you.
During Social Studies we learned about Native American life and compared it with our lives today. We discussed religion, nature, family, men and women and roles, babies, hunting, etc. Tomorrow we will create small posters in our tribes depicting these topics.
