This morning we focused on longitude and latitude in the game "Hangman". We reviewed declarative, imperative, exclamatory, and interrogative sentences, IN PREPARATION OF TOMORROWS LANGUAGE ARTS QUIZ.
Students practiced their cursive "B".
We learned that houses must be built on owned property. They are planned and designed, with every detail on paper before the house is begun. We compared this to writing stories. Yesterday we brainstormed ideas. Today we worked hard on organizing beginnings, middles, and ending. Students love Writer's Workshop!
HOMEWORK IS READING 30 MINUTES.
In Math, we learned how to multiply two digit numbers mentally. 2 x 3T3 = (2 x 3T) + (2 x 3)=6T6=66.
We worked a lot with blocks and place value strips. Tomorrow we will review division and learn a new way to divide. Next week we will begin the workbooks. HOMEWORK IS A WORKSHEET DUE TOMORROW.
After lunch, Foreign Language, Art, Music, and Technology, we met for Social Studies and drew latitudinal and longitudinal lines on watermelons, showing degrees, equator, Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn, the poles, and the earth's four corners (E,W, N, S). Then we got to cut the watermelon into latitudinal and longitudinal slices and enjoy it! TOMORROW IS THE TEST ON THE 29 COUNTIES OF UTAH. There are online resources and maps that your child could study from.
To top it off, students got to choose minicourses. It promises to be a fun day tomorrow!
