This morning we created a coordinate grid with 4 quadrants. Students deduced where places would be based on degrees North, South, East, or West.
After journal writing and our Language Arts quiz, we played "Sparkle", a fun spelling activity.
In my reading class, students participated in a "book sell", in preparation for book clubs to begin next week. Students then worked more on organizing their stories, and some even began with rough drafts.
READING HOMEWORK IS 30 MINUTES TODAY, SATURDAY, AND SUNDAY. Research shows students do 5-6 points higher on the ACT College tests when they have read 30 minutes every day. The earlier, the better.
STUDENTS IN MRS. KIRSCH'S READING GROUP HAVE FLUENCY TEST TO DO DAILY WITH THEIR PARENTS.
In math, we reviewed homework and worked on a division flow. THERE IS NO MATH HOMEWORK TONIGHT. However, I strongly suggest students going onto some kind of multiplication tables online drill daily.
After lunch, students participated in a Spirit assembly and Cultural Roundtable. They then took the Utah Counties test. I will correct them tomorrow morning and enter the grades on the Achieve site. When students were done, they began an "Alien Quest", looking for countries based on their coordinates. This was very difficult, and we will practice it. The most important part of this activity is teamwork!!!
Team Sports and Competitive Choir was followed by minicourse, which all involved enjoyed.
