This morning we used Yes/No questioning and our talking stick to find clues to S.C., written on the board. Impressive! It took little more than 10 minutes for students to determine "Santa Claus" was the answer. We then wrote in our journals, recording the number of words written, reviewed types of sentences and wrote our own for a class story tomorrow:
Declarative
Imperative
Interrogative
Exclamatory
We started spelling activities with word sorts. This week the spelling will be completely in-class. Next week it will be coming home daily.
For reading, we learned about predicting and wrote predictions for the story, "The Little Dipper".
HOMEWORK IS TO READ FOR 30 MINUTES.
Math was fun. We worked with groups of tens (T) and renamed numbers. For example, 3T7 is 3 Ten 7, or 37. Renaming numbers to their place value helps students be able to accomplish mental math. H is hundred, and so on. We also learned how to subtract using number bonding. A MATH WORKSHEET WENT HOME!!! DUE TOMORROW!!!
After Foreign Language, Art, Yoga/Karate, and Technology, students learned the location of Utah using latitude and longitude, East and West, Degrees, and hemispheres. They studied the counties in an outside race and double-dare. All students took home a study sheet today. Please review the counties with your child. STUDENTS WILL BE TAKING A TEST ON THE 29 COUNTIES OF UTAH ON FRIDAY. A good place to study is:
